Jack Fraser

Jack Fraser came to Cairns in 1973 as Manager of the National Australia Bank. Jack had been foundation President of Townsville Bridge Club (1967-70) so his arrival in Cairns in Cairns Club's early days was very welcome. Jack was Cairns President 6 times, between 1975 and 1984, served as Treasurer many times until 1995, looked after the garden and organized and carried out a lot of maintenance. At times Jack also directed bridge sessions.

Jack lived in the Manager's house provided by the National Australia Bank. This house is now the Cock & Bull Inn in North Cairns.

Jack complained bitterly of never getting decent cards. But my recollection was that when I had the contract he regularly held more trumps than I did.

On a personal note Jack and Jean have been my wonderful friends for many years.
